Coach R. S. Humphrey '21 ran Squad A of the Freshman hockey candidates through its first scrimmage of the season at the end of the practice yesterday afternoon, using every member of the squad before he dismissed them. Squad B was under the direction of Coaches R. L. Romaine '23 and P. E. Wilson '23 the entire hour of practice, and for the greater part of the time was drilled in the elementary principles of the game. Candidates for the position of goal took turns in the cage while the rest of the men took the puck up the ice and attempted to get it past them.

In the first forty-five minutes of the practice, J. J. Mapes alternated with W. D. Cantillon at goal and R. W. Chase and D. J. Danker Jr. changed with Clark Hodder and P. F. Pond at the defense positions while members of Squad A in pairs tried to carry the puck past them. Passing was stressed by Coach Humphrey.

For the last ten minutes of the session a spirited scrimmage was held. No goals were made by either team. The line-up of the two sextets follows: L. O. V. Mann, L. B. Smith, r.w.  l.w., R. P. Rose C.
