Continuing its success of the past two weeks, the first University squash team nosed out the strong St. Paul's team at Concord yesterday afternoon by winning three out of five matches. Although handicapped by playing on strange courts with concrete side-walls, the Crimson players showed themselves well up to form.
R. E. Smith '22, Myles P. Baker '22 and E. M. Hinkle '23 were able to win easily, allowing their schoolboy opponents but few points in each game. D. McK. Key '22 playing number two for the University lost to W. A. W. Stewart in a hard hitting five game match in which key came within one point of winning. F. F. Lymington staged a surprise by dropping only one game to Captain Malcolm Bradlee '22.
The victory over St. Paul's, which had previously defeated the Union Boat Club, raises the University's chances of winning when it meets the latter team in what may prove to be the critical match of the season in the Massachusetts Squash Racquets Association.
The summary is as follows: F. F. Lymington defeated Captain Maicolm Bradlee '22, 16-14, 11-15, 15-11, 15-9; W. A. W. Stewart defeated D. McK. Key '22, 16-14, 11-15, 4-15, 17-15, 15-9; Myles P. Baker '22 defeated H. N. Rawlins, 15-7, 15-2, 15-10; R. E. Smith '22 defeated G. M. Sainbeer, 15-12, 15-10, 15-9; E. M. Hinkle '23 defeated G. D. Debevoise, 15-8, 15-12, 15-6.
