A round robin tournament is being held among the members of the University fencing squad for the purpose of selecting one regular and one substitute for the team. Of the three-man team, two have been already chosen, Captain Burke Boyce '22 and W. R. Brewster '22, both of whom were regulars last year. Matches will be played off daily between 4 and 6 o'clock under the direction of Captain Boyce and Coach Danguy. After the close of the tournament a cut will be made in the squad; there are 12 men in the University squad at present, but it will be cut to about six.
When the regular B. A. A. tournaments start, the team will be required to play in them to gain practice. For the present Coach Danguy will give his men a series of special exercises, which he has worked out as a part of his system of training.
The schedule being planned by Manager J. S. Barss '22 will include a trip to Philadelphia, a trip to the New York Military Academy, Cornwall-on-Hudson, New York, and the usual trip to New York for the Intercollegiates. The two most important meets of the year, with Yale and Columbia, will be held at Cambridge this year.
In addition to the squad, between 20 and 25 beginners, both Freshmen and upper-classmen, are reporting for practice every day. By the Christmas recess, the best of the beginners will be advanced to the University squad.
