In a hard fought three-set match yesterday afternoon, A. Briggs '25 defeated G. B. Uchiyama 1G., 7-5, 5-7, 6-3, in the semi-finals of the Union fall, tennis tournament. Tomorrow Briggs will meet the winner of three matches yet to be played off in the other bracket of the semi-finals. J. M. Hopkins 2E.S. will play Donald Stralem '24 today. This match is considered to be a decisive one, as Hopkins and Stralem are probably the two strongest men in the bracket.
In the doubles, M. P. Lichauco '28 and J. G. Russell '22 advanced to the finals yesterday by defeating F. M. Davenport 2L, and M. E. Gibson 2L., 6-3, 7-5. They will play the winners of the other bracket, which still has three matches scheduled. Among the strong pairs who are fighting their way to the finals are Donald Stralem '24 and L. H. Rouillon '24, whose match this afternoon promises to be of high interest, for both teams are powerful combinations.
The results of yesterday's singles matches are as follows:
A. Briggs '25 defeated G. B. Uchiyama 1G., 7-5, 5-7, 6-2; J. M. Hopkins 2E.S. defeated W. H. Harkness '24, 6-3, 6-1; E. M. Stern '22 defeated S. B. Quel '22, 6-4, 6-0.
The results of the doubles matches are as follows:
