DECLARES MODERN BUSINESS NEEDS INDUSTRIAL EXPERTS

Mr. E. D. Howard, Authority on Labor Conditions, Speaks on "Opportunities In the Field of Labor"

That modern business is run by financiers and not by industrial experts was the chief premise of a talk given yesterday by Mr. Earl Dean Howard, head of the labor department of Hart. Shaffner, and Marx, to students of the Business School on the subject of "Opportunities in the Field of Labor".

Since business is controlled by men whose chief interest is the balance sheet, said Mr. Howard, there has arisen the need for men whose work it shall be to watch what is going on in the minds of the workers and remove misunderstandings before they become dangerous. If the capitalistic system is to endure, men must be introduced into its industrial life whose work it shall be to bring about peace and a spirit of cooperation between employers and workers. That Mr. Howard said in conclusion, was the great problem and the great opportunity in the field of labor.
