Although handicapped by the absence of Captain C. W. Heath '22, who has been unable to play on account of an injury to his knee, the University soccer team will an optimistic outlook towards the opening game of the season, which is against Amherst on Saturday. Coach Charles Burgess feels that the squad has to date given promise of better material than at any time since the war. The forwards have shown power this year and the defence has exhibited signs of great strength.

Of the 41 candidates who have been reporting regularly, men who have so far shown themselves as especially strong factors in the team are R. W. Heizer '23, center, W. N. Tuttle '24, outside right, and Newby Murray '24, center halfback. The Freshman squad, numbering thirty men, has also proved to be strong and is expected to be playing well together by the time its first game is scheduled.
