PLAY COMPETITION OPENS

Two Men May Combine in Writing Hasty Pudding Production--Manuscripts to be Handed in November 8

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

As in 1920, the Hasty Pudding Club will run a play competition this year open to all members of the University. The author or authors of the winning play, if Juniors or Seniors, will be elected members of the club, or if they are already members, will be given suitable prizes. Successful Freshmen or Sophomores will also be awarded prizes.

Rules relating to the competition which must be observed are: only two persons may combine on the book of the play. The music and lyrics this year will not be a part of the competition. All manuscripts must be typewritten and must be sent to the Secretary of the Hasty Pudding Club, G. M. Appleton '22, Grays Hall, any time from now until November 8, 1921.

The following suggestions have been made by the club officers: contestants for the competition should bear in mind the limitations of the Hasty Pudding Club performances. It is not advisable to plan complicated scenery, or to suggest scenic effects. The play should be limited to as few acts as the plot permits. Any female roles which are not adaptable to a male cast are to be avoided. No restrictions will be made on the source of the plot, except that archaic or over-fanciful settings are not as acceptable as those of a strictly modern nature.
