PICK WRESTLERS JAN. 15

UNIVERSITY TO PLAY GRADUATES

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The preliminary tryouts for the University wrestling team, which will be open to all undergraduates of the College except Freshmen, will be held from 4 until 6 o'clock on Friday, January 14. On Saturday, the 15th, as a result of the final tryouts, which will be held before and between the halves of the Wesleyan basketball game, the College champions of the different classes will be picked, and the members of the University team selected. On the next Friday, January 21, the University team will meet the Graduate Schools team in a dual meet.

This meet, the first of the season, promises to be an exceptionally close one, as the Graduate Schools team is made up of several former College stars. Of these men, H. E. Browne 3L., in the 129-pound class, amateur champion of the Pacific Coast, and University champion last year, is expected to win in his class. Although all of the other members of the Graduates' team have not been chosen, B. B. Corson ocC., in the 135-pound class, former New England Intercollegiate and amateur champion; A. McB. Kinney 1G., heavyweight, of last year's team; and G. Baker 2L., in the 129-pound class, who was on the University team two years ago, are the outstanding candidates.

Plan Meet With Penn State

Subject to the approval of the Athletic Committee, plans for a dual meet with Penn State on February 19, last year's intercollegiate wrestling champions, have been finally completed. In order to have the men in condition for the trials next week, Coach Anderson announced yesterday that practice for candidates for the University team will be held every afternoon from 4 until 6.

Prospects for a winning yearling team are very good, but more men are needed in the heavyweight class. Although as yet all of the men have not had sufficient time to show their ability, L. F. Holmes and G. Karelitz, in the 119 and 139 pound classes respectively are the most promising candidates for the team.

The meet with the Yale Freshmen has been finally arranged, and plans for other meets with Andover, Tufts Freshmen, M. I. T. Freshmen are under way.
