The versatile playing of Gordon was the outstanding feature in the 1924 victory over the Worcester North High School five Saturday, the final score being 62-29. The play was fast throughout, but the home five had the advantage from start to finish. Gordon shot fifteen baskets from the floor. His footwork and uncanny sense of direction fooled the Worcester guards time and again.
Quinn was the mainstay of the high school team. From nineteen tries he scored fifteen points from the foul line.
At a meeting of the team after the game, Lewis Gordon of Gloucester was elected captain of the 1924 basketball team. Gordon played for four years on the Gloucester High School five, and in his last year captained it through a very successful season.
The line-up follows: Baskets from floor, Gordon 15, Sipp 8, Stevens 3, Rudolfsky 2, Zacder 2, Bunker 2, Quinn 1, Fox 1, Sahagian 1. Goals from fouls, Quinn 15, Gordon 6. Referee, Hoyt. Umpire, McDonald.
