Tuesday, October 5, has been selected as the opening day of the annual University fall tennis tournament this year. On that date as many as possible of the first rounds will be played off on the Jarvis Field courts. The tournament, the winner of which becomes the University champion, is open to all members of the University, including graduate schools.

Entries, which are accepted at the H. A. A. and at 27 Hollis Hall, close at 6 P. M. on Monday, October 4. The entrance fee will be 25 cents. Courts will be free for all players in the tournament. Balls must be furnished by the entrants. Payment is required at the time of signing up, and no one who has failed to pay will be considered in drawing up the list of opposing players.

Besides determining the champion, the tournament is intended to furnish information on the prospective material for next spring's University and Freshman team. Men who make a good showing will be selected to play during the winter on the covered courts at Longwood, and will form the team representing the University on the spring Southern trip. An elimination tournament at the beginning of the 1921 season will determine the spring team until candidates are called out in April or May.
