Freshman football got under way yesterday when 86 first-year men reported to J. J. Ryan '20, who has been appointed head coach of the 1924 players. Coach Ryan was assisted by Assistant Coaches Fishback, Rudman and Rich.

Coach Ryan first gave a short preliminary talk to the Freshmen in the Locker Building, and then led the squad out onto the field and put them through the usual early season preliminary training. Practice yesterday consisted of starting, passing and falling on the ball.

More candidates for the Freshman football team are needed. All men who have not yet reported should do so this afternoon at 2.30 o'clock at the Locker Building.

Forty candidates for the 1924 manager's berth reported yesterday. More are still needed and men reporting today will be at no disadvantage in the competition. Candidates should report at 2.30 o'clock at the Locker Building.
