The Union Boat Club has entered an eight and a four-oared crew, and a single sculler, in the English Royal Henley Regatta starting June 30. The party, 22 in all, will leave Boston today for New York to sail on the Rotterdam. The voyagers will arrive in England about June 20.
The quarters for the squad have been arranged for in Henley, England, and practice will be held there twice a day for the 10 days before the race. The defeat at the American Henley on the Schuylkill is attributed mainly to slowness in getting in condition, the oarsmen having been out of training for from one to four years. The manager, Walter G. Badger, has not yet learned whether rowing machines will be installed on the Rotterdam, but the men will be kept in condition by regular exercises and runs if the machines are not put on board. If the machines are not put on board. The order of the crews in their last row on the Basin is as follows:
Union Eight--Stroke, Charles C. Lund; 7, Amory Jeffries; 6, S. K. Lothrop; 5, Amory Coolidge; 4, F. B. Whitman or Bartlett Harwood; 3, Captain Henry Murray; 2, J. C. White; bow, R. E. Herrick Jr.; coxswain, Charlton Reynders.
Union Four--Stroke, Arthur E. Pew; 3, J. F. Linder; 2, Francis Parkman; bow, Thomas Fisher.
F. B. Whitman '19, captain of last year's University crew, and Bartlett Harwood have been alternating in the No. 4 seat of the eight. Coach Herrick plans to decide the final seating in the 10 days's workout in England.
