WESTERN NEW YORK DISTRICT CONTRIBUTES TO ENDOWMENT

Twenty-Five Graduates Donate Fifth of Million Dollars

The May canvass for the Harvard Endowment Fund resulted in an enrollment of 147 graduates who had not hitherto contributed. The net gain for the month, however, was comparatively small, both in the total number enrolled and in the amount of the general fund, due to the elimination of nearly 100 duplications.

The feature of the month was the spirited campaign in the western New York district under the leadership of Evan Hollister '97 of Buffalo. Solicitors in that district secured nearly $20,000 from 25 graduates in three weeks' work. More than a score of new subscriptions were obtained in the Boston district, and New York added 15 more.

Chairman Eliot Wadsworth '98 issued a personal letter to district chiefs recently, urging a continuation of the campaign during the summer.

The last total of the fund was $12,152,677.
