Smoke But Little Fire in Jefferson

Yesterday morning at about 10 o'clock a small fire broke out in the Jefferson Physical Laboratory among some storage batteries, sending forth great quantities of smoke but doing little damage. Three pieces of apparatus responded to the alarm but the fire had already been extinguished without difficulty. Defective insulation is thought to be the cause.
