Man Who Managed Clients for High-End Cambridge Brothel Network Pleads Guilty
RED TOP, CONN., June 17.--This morning the two University crews went for a six-mile practice spin up-stream. During the heavy showers, the Freshmen had a work-out, going down toward New London past the submarine base, with Coach Herbert Haines in charge. Several practice starts were made by Coach Haines made the practice as short as possible, due to the rain, and allowed the men to return to camp at top speed.
Two former University oarsmen, Mr. C. K. Cummings '93, and Mr. A. E. Perkins '93, accompanied the first and second crews on their up-stream row in the launch. Both have sons on the 1923 squad.
On the crews' return from their morning work-outs, a bevy of photographers were waiting to take the crews' pictures at this time, the first that it has been permitted. The crews donned dry uniforms and posed as they will race a week from today provided no unforseen change is made.
Today, however, the temporary changes which were made yesterday in the line-ups of the first two crews were not altered. R. K. Kane '22 is being given a short rest while his position at 3 on Crew A is being taken by S. Damon '21. J. N. Borland 2nd '21 also continues to row in Damon's place at bow in the second shell, while D. H. Morris, Jr. '21 is still rowing at 6 on B in place of S. A. Duncan '22. Coach Haines is also giving the latter a short-rest. The present line-ups of the crews are as follows:
University A.--Bow, Davis; 2, Lothrop; 3, Damon; 4, Terry; 5 McCagg; 6, Olmsted; 7, Burden; stroke, Jenney; coxswain, Pierson.
University B.--Bow, Borland; 2, Bradlee; 3, Appleton; 4, C. F. Batchelder; 5, Atkinson; 6, Morris; 7, Pond; stroke, H. Brown; coxswain, Williams.
In the afternoon the three crews headed down stream where the first eight paddled over about three miles while the yearlings raced the second boat over the two-mile course. Although no time was taken, the Freshmen showed up very well, leading Crew B at the finish line by half a length. This is indicative of the progress made at Red Top by the first-year men under the supervision of Coach Herbert Haines. Every indication points to a very close race between the Crimson and Blue 1923 crews.
