BALL TEAM, WITH TWO WEIRD INNINGS, BOWS TO DARTMOUTH 10-7

BULLARD PITCHES STRONG GAME IN LAST 7 INNINGS

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Scoring eight runs in the first two innings, the Dartmouth nine defeated the University yesterday on Soldiers' Field by a 10-7 score. Two batting rallies, in the fifth and eighth innings by the home team could not break the lead which the Crimson hall presented the Hanoverians in the opening sessions.

The parade around the bases began with the first man up. C. A. Harrison, Occ., the University slabsman, walked Reese, hit Kopf, and threw Maynard's grounder into left field in an attempt to catch Reese at third. Reese and Kopf scored while the ball was being returned to the infield, and Maynard crossed the plate on Robertson's hit over second.

Second a Nightmare.

Things went from bad to worse in the second inning when errors, passes and hits followed each other in bewildering fashion, 11 men coming to the bat before the side was retired. F. K. Bullard '20, sent in to fill the gap in the last of the session, held the Green batters to two runs, one in the seventh and one in the eighth.

In the fifth inning the University staged its first attempt at a comeback. Emmons' hit to shortstop was the signal for a series of bingles by Conlon, Hallowell and Frothingham which scored Lancaster and Emmons. After Dartmouth had shut out the Crimson is one, two, three order in the "lucky seventh," the University made its second and last attempt to save the day in the eighth frame. With Frothingham and Bigelow on the sacks, Hallock lined out a three-bagger over the left fielder's head into the Freshman practice diamond and scored on Perkins' infield hit.
