UNIVERSITY AND '23 NETMEN FACE YALE

The University tennis team will wind up its season this afternoon at 3 o'clock on the Divinity Field courts with the match against Yale. The contest bids fair to be one of the fastest of the year, with both teams in prime form after unusual, long and hard schedules. Until last week the University sextet had had the most successful series of matches for years, being undefeated up to last Friday. Since then, however, the team has suffered three defeats in succession, losing to Princeton 5-4, to the West Side Tennis Club of New York last Saturday 7-2, and to the Longwood Cricket Club Wednesday 6-2. Previous victories include matches with Tufts, Brown, Cornell, M. I. T. and Pittsburg. The Yale team is considered one of the strongest the Elis have ever put out. Captain Garland, the outstanding star, through his recent victorious Davis Cup trial matches is now a member of the United States Cup team which will go abroad this summer to meet the French and English players. Previous to the Princeton contest, which they won 7-0, the Elis have defeated every team they have encountered.

University Team Well Balanced

For the University, Captain G. W. Helm '20 has been playing a fast game, and has been ably seconded by the rest of the team, which is steady and well balanced, but boasts no individual stars comparable to Garland.

The probable Yale line-up is as follows: Captain Garland, Hawkes, Banks, Wiley, Weber and Wilder. If, as is possible, Garland is unable to play, Hedstrom will also play on the team. The University team will play in the following order: Captain Helm, L.A. deTurenne '21, J. B. Fenno Jr. 21, C. H. Hyams 3d '21 D. P. Robinson Jr. '20 and R. N. Bradley '22. The double combinations are: Helm, and deTurenne, Hyams and Fenno and W. W. Rowe '20 and Robinson.

The strong Freshman tennis team will also play the culminating match of its season this afternoon when it meets the Yale yearlings at New Haven. The contest will be played at 1 o'clock to enable the men to see the Yale Princeton baseball game. With only one defeat registered against them, beside their loss to the University sextet, the 1923 players are favored to win against the Elis. Beside beating M. I. T. Thursday, the Crimson Freshmen have captured matches with Andover, Browne and Nichols, St. John's Prep, Brookline High and Milton.

Duane Stars for Cubs

For the Yale team, the first three players, W. Hawkes, G. M. Wheeler and W. F. Vaughan, are stellar performers. For the University, Captain M. Duane has been playing a fast and spectacular game, and has won regularly. J. D. Faranham is a close rival for honors. The other four men are considered a better balanced quarter than the corresponding Yale racqueters.
