UNIVERSITY TENNIS TEAM LOSES TO WEST SIDE CLUB

Two Singles Matches Crimson's Only Victories--Third Defeat of Season

The University tennis team returned yesterday from a week-end trip on which it suffered two defeats. After losing to Princeton Friday, 5-4, the players were overwhelmed Saturday 7-2 by the West Side Tennis Club at the latter's courts in New York. The two contests in which the Crimson was victorious were those of D. P. Robinson torious were those Jr. '20, who won from A. Iler, 6-3, 6-3, and L. A. deTurenne '21, who defeated R. L. Baggs, 6-4, 3-6, 6-0, in a closely contested match. J. B. Fenno Jr. '21 gave his opponent, L. E. Mahan, a hard run, being finally defeated in three sets, and H. S. Parker of West Side had difficulty in beating C. H. Hyams 3d '21 8-6, 11-9.

Though losing his match, Captain G. W. Helm '20 played an excellent brand of tennis. His opponent, S. Hardy, the leader of the club team, starred for the West Siders, finding time between his Church Cup duties to con uer the Crimson player, 6-3, 6-0.

Singles--Samuel Hardy, West Side, defeated G. W. Helm '20, 6-3, 6-0; L. A. deTurenne '21 defeated R. L. Baggs, West Side, 6-4, 3-6, 6-0; L. E. Mahan, West Side, defeated J. B. Fenno Jr. '21, 1-6, 6-1, 6-0; H. S. Parker, West Side, defeated C. H. Hyams 3d '21, 8-6, 11-9; D. P. Robinson Jr. '20 defeated A. Her, West Side, 6-3, 6-3; P. L. Kynaston, West Side, defeated R. N. Bradley '22, 7-5, 6-4.

Doubles--Hardy and Parker, West Side, defeated Helm and deTurenne, Harvard, 6-2, 7-5; Mahan and Iler, West Side, defeated Hyams and Fenno, Harvard, 6-1, 6-3; S. Kashio and Kynaston, West Side, defeated Robinson and W. W. Rowe '20, 6-4, 6-4.

This afternoon at 4 o'clock the Freshman team will encounter Milton Academy at Milton. The schoolboys have a strong sextet, but the unmarred yearling record gives the latter the advantage. The 1923 line-up will be as follows: M. Duane, A. P. Knox, J. D. Farnham, G. C. Guild, M. Grabau and G. F. Warburg.
