PRESIDENT LOWELL'S ADDRESS

The enormous audience which thronged the Union Tuesday night to hear President Lowell's address on the "Outstanding Events of the Year," showed that the University welcomes an opportunity to study contemporaneous history from one who has taken a conspicuous part in political as well as in academic affairs.

That the complexity of present national and international problems is so great as to puzzle even the most intelligent man is a statement too often repeated to be original, yet too true to be disregarded. It is only by continuously taking stock of ourselves and of the conditions which confront us, and by calmly analyzing these conditions, that we can approximate a clear and intelligent outlook.

The precedent established Tuesday night at the Union is one that should be perpetuated. That the University considers it a privilege to hear President Lowell and to be guided toward rational thinking, there is no doubt.
