In their first game against a college team this season the Freshman nine will meet Holy Cross 1923 at Soldiers Field this afternoon at 4 o'clock. At present the yearlings are playing a winning brand of ball, their great weakness being their failure to hit in the pinches. In their 1-0 ten-inning victory over Huntington last Monday they were unable to avail themselves of numerous opportunities to score. Aside from an occasional tendency to wildness, G. Owen has proved a reliable pitcher in the games against Middlesex and Huntington.
Judging from comparative scores the Freshmen have the edge on Holy Cross since the latter were shut out by Dean Academy, while the yearlings scored three runs against them. Holy Cross, however, defeated Exeter 8-7, and has split even on its other games.
