1923 GOLFERS WIN FIRST MATCH; DEFEAT EXETER BY WIDE MARGIN

Folin Turns in Best Score of Day and Defeats Prep. School Captain.

In its first match of the season, played Saturday on the Winchester links, the Freshman golf team defeated Exeter easily, four games to one. G. G. Folin, playing number two man for the yearlings, turned in the best medal score of the day, an 81, and defeated Smith, the Exeter captain, two up. The closest match was between Captain C. C. De Gersdorff of the 1923 team and Adler, which the latter finally won on the 18th hole, one up. The remaining matches resulted in victories for the University.
