SEVENTY CANDIDATES REPORT FOR FIRST DAY OF FOOTBALL

DIVIDE SQUAD MONDAY

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

With a squad of 70 candidates reporting for practice, spring football work under the direction of Coach R. T. Fisher '12 was started yesterday at Soldiers Field. A light workout, for the purpose of conditioning the men, was held.

The candidates tossed medicine balls and footballs around and tried a few sprints. The backs reported to Coach J. L. Knox '98, coach of the second team, while the linemen were instructed by Coach Fisher and Dr. D. C. Parameter '13.

Before the men went out onto the field, Coach Fisher explained the plans of the spring work. On Monday the men will be divided into two squads and work will be begun on the new plays. During the last three or four days of the work the two squads will be lined up against each other and the new plays actually tried out.
