OLD CLOTHES DRIVE A SUCCESS

Phillips Brooke House Reports Favorable Result in Recent Collection.

The report of R. K. Kane '22, chairman of the recent Phillips Brooks House collection of old clothes, books and magazines, shows that the drive was most successful. Some of the clothing will be distributed to the poor through the Morgan Memorial and the Cambridge Associated Charities. The remainder will be sent overseas by the Near East Relief and the Serbian Distress Committee.

Of the books collected those available for courses in College will be added to the Text Book Loan Library at Phillips Brooks House and lent to students for five cents a book. The remainder, together with the magazines, will be given to the American Library Association and will be distributed by them to hospitals, the Army and Navy, Coast Guards, and various reading rooms.

The report gives the following results: Overcoats, 14; coats and vests, 5; vests, 21; suits, 6; coats, 21; trousers, 37; raincoats, 4; hats and caps, 29; shoes, 79 pairs; shirts, 91; underwear, 54; ties, 121; collars, 108; socks, 33 pairs; sweaters, 2. In addition to the above, 399 text books and about one ton of magazines were collected.
