AWARD $100 DEBATE PRIZE

Orators Will Compete at Final Try-Outs in Sever This Evening.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Coolidge Debating Prize of $100 given annually to the best speaker in the final trials for the triangular debate will be awarded at the close of the speaking in Sever 11 this evening at 7 o'clock. This prize, established in 1899 by the gift of T. Jefferson Coolidge '50, is offered with the idea of stimulating in young college men the attainment of those qualities--quick, clear thinking and ease of expression--toward which debating is aimed. In addition to the prize a gold medal "The Coolidge Debating Medal" will be awarded to all speakers, and a silver medal to alternates in the Triangular debate.

The debating squad is holding practice every afternoon and evening in preparation for the debate with Yale and Princeton, but as yet no decision as to the final make-up of the teams has been made. Great help in the coaching is being rendered by Professor H. B. Huntington '97, of Brown, Judge A. P. Stone '93, Professor H. N. Davis A.M. '03, Sidney Curtis '05, and Mr. W. H. Foster '06. Mr. H. J. Laski has aided the team in many ways.
