Organize Three Day Drive for French War Memorial on Marne

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Next Monday, March 22, there will be started a five-day campaign throughout the country for the Macmonnies Memorial, which is to be set up on the banks of the Marne in France, in commemoration of the American troops who gave their lives in the World War. The drive in the University will begin Monday, and last three days. As in the case of the French gift of the Statue of Liberty, when the donors were very numerous and representative, everybody is urged to contribute, even as small an amount as 10 cents being gratefully received. The Memorial, to cost in the neighborhood of $300,000, will be very impressively situated on one of the historical heights dominating the Marne Valley, in the region where our troops turned the tide of the German advance, near Chateau-Thierry.

Y. H. Buhler '20 is in charge of the drive, and C. R. Stedman '20, H. S. Horgan '23, and W. Eldridge '21 are chairmen of the teams which will canvass the Yard, the Freshman dormitories, and the University at large respectively.
