AMENDMENTS PROPOSED TO ALTER CLASS ELECTIONS

Council Believes Sixty Per Cent, of Men Should be Necessary to Valid Election.

At the meeting of the Executive Board of the Student Council, last night, the question of changing the constitution of the Junior, Sophomore, and Freshman classes was brought up for discussion. In the past two or three years too few members of each class have shown sufficient interest in class affairs to vote for the officers of the class. The two sections which the Executive Committee of the Council has drawn up are intended to prevent lack of interest in class affairs and to make all elections express the opinion of a decided majority of the members of the class.

The Executive Committee proposes to submit these two amendments to the three lower classes for each class to approve at its next meeting. The class of 1923 will act upon the amendments at the class smoker in the Union Thursday evening, March 25.

Below are the amendments, proposed to be added to Article 3 of the Constitution of the three lower classes:

"Section 10. Any election of class officers shall be declared valid if 60 percent. or more of the members of the class affected shall have voted.

"Section 10. If at any election of class officers shall be declared valid if 60 percent, or more of the members of the class affected shall have voted.

Section 11. If at any election a sufficient number of votes are not cast at the first ballot, further balloting shall be held at intervals of not more than ten days, suffrage being restricted to those members who have not already voted, until a sufficient number of votes have been cast."
