JOHN DRINKWATER TO VISIT UNIVERSITY NEXT THURSDAY

Mr. John Drinkwater, the noted English dramatist and poet, will make an informal visit to the University on next Thursday, February 5. It was believed that it would be impossible for Mr. Drinkwater to arrange to come here because the program for his American trip was already full, and because his lecture tour will close on February 15, ten days before he sails for England. Unfortunately, it has been impossible to arrange for him to speak at the Union because of the conflict with the mid-year period and the brevity of Mr. Drinkwater's stay.

Mr. Drinkwater will arrive at the University Thursday before noon, and will spend the greater part of the morning visiting the Widener Library, the 47 Workshop, and the undergraduate publications. A luncheon in his honor will be given by the Signet Society. Because of his crowded program he will have to return to Boston early in the afternoon.

As the author of the play "Abraham Lincoln," which is now being produced in New York, Mr. Drinkwater is well known to all American followers of the drama. In addition to his work as a dramatist he is among the most distinguished of the younger British poets. As an essayist he has written several notable works, the best known of which is "The Lyric."
