Freshmen who are interested in taking up fencing for the remaining two months of winter are called to report at the Fencing Rom in the Hemenway Gymnasium at 3 o'clock today.
A Freshman squad will be formed which will work out regularly at this hour every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. A novice cup for which anyone on the Freshman squad will be eligible to compete has been offered again this year by the Harvard Fencers Club. The competition will be held late in March.
At the end of the season at least three men will be assigned places on the University squad for next season. Men hoping to make the University team in the future should begin work while Freshmen wherever possible as at least one year of training is essential to anyone out for the University squad. Men joining the squad may in that way satisfy their Freshman exercise requirement.
This practice will in no way interfere with the early fencing classes now being conducted, which will continue at the same time as usual. No previous experience is required or Freshmen who try out for this squad, but serious, steady work is indispensable.
