DEBATING TRIALS COMMENCE

Opening Trial to Be Held in Harvard 5 Tonight-Subject "Free Speech."

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The first try-outs for positions on the debating teams which will meet Yale and Princeton in the Triangular Debate on March 19 will begin in Harvard 5 tonight at 7 o'clock. The subject is: "Resolved, That Congress should adopt all measures necessary to repress propaganda for the ultimate overthrow of republican government."

At these trials speeches may be only five minutes in length, and may be on either side of the question. The limited preparation necessitated by late announcement of the subject has brought forth the decision that aspirants will be judged, not so much on knowledge of arguments for or against this proposition, as on debating ability manifested.
