Two hundred years have passed since the Commonwealth of Massachusetts presented to the University the hall which bears the State's name. They have been years of service; generations of students have roomed there, soldiers have gone thence to battle for their country, fires have scorched its walls, but still it stands, now no longer the newest, but the oldest college building. It is but right and fitting that on this day the University should pause in its course a few moments to do honor to the hall which is both a monument and a record of Harvard's enduring traditions and glories.
