The curtain has dropped on the football season. Baseball and crew are far away on the horizen. Hockey is drawing near but aside from this little interest is taken during the winter in the numerous minor sports that are now just commencing their season.
A Yale man was heard to say just after the game last week: "We've got to beat Harvard at something; we'll beat them in swimming, we'll beat them in wrestling, and we'll beat them in the gym meet. Those Harvard men are too conceited to take an interest in minor sports.
Whether the reason assigned for our failure in minor sports is correct or not, the fact remains that we do not take much interest in them. Yale has consistently beaten us in swimming, wrestling, and in the gym meets. These are all good sports; they are all healthful and interesting. Is there any reason why we cannot be successful in squash, basketball, fencing, as we are successful in football, hockey, crew and baseball.
