THOMAS JEFFERSON COOLIDGE

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Active, public-spirited, kind-hearted-- Thomas Jefferson Coolidge stood for all that is best in American ideals and citizenship. Throughout his life he played a leading part in domestic and national affairs, and played it well. It is such men as he who raise the ideals of the age, and blaze the trail for coming generations to follow.

Nor did he, amid all his activities, ever lose his close touch with the University from which he graduated. For thirteen years he held the position of an overseer; he established, in memory of his son, a chemical laboratory; and Jefferson Physical Laboratory still stands as a monument to his generosity. By his death, Harvard has lost a loyal friend.
