EMMONS SHINES IN FIELD

Cold, raw weather affected the playing of both baseball teams yesterday afternoon at Soldiers Field, the Saxony Worated Mills nine winning the first game of the fall schedule, 1-0. Cameron's triple, the only clean hit made by the Saxony nine, occurred just after Thayer had failed to net a short drive to centerfield and scored the opposing pitcher, Switzer, on base due to the misplay.

E.F. Goode '22 held the visitors in check during the other innings, allowing four men to reach first base. The infield played erratically. In the first half of the fourth frame, Captain Emmons, single handed, made a brilliant double play when he caught a terrific line drive and touched second base.

The University nine failed to realize its scoring opportunity in the second inning when, after the bases were full with only one out, the Saxony Mills pitcher fanned Keegan and Goode. Again, in the sixth, after Lincoln, and Bigelow had reached second and third by a double steal, Shaw fanned, ending the inning.
