PHYSICAL TRAINING SECTIONS FOR FRESHMEN MEET TODAY

All Members of 1924 Must Enter Organized Sport or Form of Physical Training

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The first meetings of all Freshman Physical Training sections will be held today in the Freshman Athletic Building for all men not competing in fall athletics. At this time a final attempt will be made to induce men to join an organized sport, and in order to make this more attractive men will be allowed to go out for the track, cross-country, lacrosse and baseball squads on three days only of each week.

Freshmen who still remain in a physical training section must choose one of the following four forms of exercise: tennis, to be held under the instruction of J. S. McCloy, 3L., at Soldiers Field; swimming, under Mr. Howes, at the Big Tree Pool; handball, under Mr. Fradd, at the Freshman Athletic Building; and the 5 o'clock gymnasium section.

Beginning this afternoon the 5 o'clock gymnasium class will meet daily except Saturdays in the Hemenway Gymnasium. These meetings will be regularly open to all men registering in the University, and will give instruction in calesthenics and various indoor games. Freshmen who wish to fulfill their athletic requirements may attend this class on three days each week.

Competing Freshmen Report at Weld 3

According to the records at the office of the Department of Physical Education the following is the number of Freshmen signed up for each of the fall teams: crew, 105; football, 79; baseball, 48; track, 43; equitation, 23; soccer, 21; cross-country, 13; and lacrosse, 4. It is evident that there is some discrepancy between these figures and the men actually out for athletics. In view of this fact, all Freshman athletes should remember that even though they are competing for a team they are not excused from physical training sections until they have reported to Weld 3, which they must do immediately.
