INFERIOR DEAN SQUAD TRIES GRIPS WITH 1924

DEAN DEFEATED BY ANDOVER

Fairly easy victory should result when the Freshmen meet Dean Academy in their first home game on Soldiers Field this afternoon at 2 o'clock.

Coach Sullivan's Dean Academy charges started the seasons in an impressive manner. New Bedford Textile proved an easy victim for their first preliminary game, being powerless before their brisk attack. The next week the Tufts Freshmen bowed to the Dean team, succumbing to the score of 20-0. Up to last week the Academy had been developing fast, steadily increasing a flashing offense and playing good high school football. last week, however, Andover trampled on the ambitions of the eleven, scoring 31 points and clearly demonstrating that the Dean team is not in its usual preparatory school class, though the Andover combination is admittedly mediocre.

Little is known of the Dean players individually except that the backfield is light and fairly fast. The line is reported not to be imposing, and the Academy's greatest strength lies in open plays.

Coach J. F. Ryan '20 has given the yearlings a much harder week than any previous session, and the Freshmen should show the result of stiffening practice. The work has been heavy throughout the week and culminated in Thursday's scrimmage with the University. The showing in that contest was decidedly satisfactory, the Freshmen doing as well could be expected in such an unequal match. The line-up: 1924.  DEAN ACADEMY. P. S. Sprague, r.e.  l.e. Daley R. S.
