An open meeting of the Musical Club of the University will be held in the clubroom on the third floor of the Music Building on Wednesday at 8 o'clock. At this meeting a program of ensemble instrumental and vocal music will be presented by members of the club. All students and officers of the University who are interested in music are cordially invited to attend the meeting.
The Musical Club is an organization for the promotion of musical knowledge and appreciation at the University, its object being to afford a meeting place for those interested in music. The club was founded in 1898 with Professor John Knowles paine A. M. '69 as its first president. Its primary aim, then, as now, was the encouragement of original composition.
Meetings are now held bi-weekly and at every meeting a program, consisting of original and standard works, is presented by members. The club has at present a membership of about 45, comprising officers and students in many departments of the University. It maintains a room and library on the third floor of the Music Building which is open to members at all times. In addition to the regular meetings the club gives an annual public concert, which this season will take place in March.
