PLAN DOUBLE BILL OF TRACK EVENTS SATURDAY AFTERNOON

SELECT FRESHMAN ENTRIES

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Two dual track meets will be staged Saturday at Soldiers Field if arrangements now under way are definitely completed. The University track men will meet a team from B.A.A., while definite word has been received that the M.I.T. 1923 track team will oppose the Freshmen.

The events will start at 2.30 o'clock, and all of the track events, including the hurdles, will be run off on the outdoor board track, while the field events will be staged in the Cage. Following is the list of events: 40 yard dash, 300-yard dash, 600-yard dash, 1000-yard run, one mile run, 45-yard hurdles, high jump, pole-vault. There is also a possibility of holding a shot-put contest, although the shortness of Technology's practice has given little opportunity for the training of weight-putters. The number of entries in the dashes, hurdles and high jump is limited to four, three and two men respectively per team. There will be heats in the 40-yard dash and in the hurdles, but all of the other events will be run in the finals only.

The yearlings have several promising runners, among whom are J. G. Winchester, captain of the 1923 cross-country team, who is entered in the 600-yard, the 1000-yard and the mile; W. H. Churchill, who will compete in the 40 and 300-yard dashes and the pole-vault, and W. C. Bennett, entered in the 300, 600, 1000-yard, and mile races and the hurdles.
