The second university hockey team began its season successfully yesterday by defeating Middlesex, at Concord, by a score of 4 to 0. Although the schoolboys showed individual brilliancy at times, they were defeated by the superior team-work of the visitors.
Two scores were tallied by the second team in the first five minutes of play, after which the speed of the game slowed up considerably. The best work was shown by White, Peirson and Baines for the second team and by Hopkins for Middle sex.
N. H. White, Jr., '20, was elected permanent captain of the second team before the game. He has been acting captain and a dependable defensive factor in the team's play thus far this season.
The teams lined up in the following order:
Second team--Goal, Seager; p., White; c.p., Higgins; r.w., Sagendorf, Gibbs, Plummer, Evers; r.s., Peirson; l.c., Adams; l.w., Baines.
Middlesex Goal, Flint; p., Lockwood; c.p., Hiller; l.w., Rogers; r.w., Bailey; r.c., Hopkins; l.c., Norris.
