UNIVERSITY AND DARTMOUTH WRANGLERS CLASH TONIGHT

PLUMB PRESIDES

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Glenn E. Plumb will preside at the University-Dartmouth dual debate in Sanders Theatre tonight at 8 o'clock on his famous plan for the operation of the railroads. Two debates will be carried on simultaneously, one in Hanover, the other in Cambridge. The University negative team consisting of L. E. Thomas '20, M. J. Donner '21, L. Dennis Occ., with B. F. Jones '22, and A. M. Stoddard '20, alternates, will oppose in Sanders Theatre the affirmative team of Dartmouth, made up of T. H. Pinney, H. E. Bernkopf, S. B. Gorham, and G. E. Brooks. The question for both the debates reads: Resolved, That the United States should adopt the Plumb Plan as embodied in the Sims bill, constitutionality granted. During the intermissions of the debate the University Glee Club will sing selections. The judges are to be announced at the meeting. Tickets may be obtained at the Co-op Branch, Amee's, Leavitt and Peirce's, and Herrick's, or at the door, at 35 cents, including war tax.

At Dartmouth the University will be represented by the affirmative team composed of J. J. Tatun '20, B. H. Kahn '22, W. S. Holbrook '21, and E. D. Hutchinson '22. All principal speeches are to be 12 minutes in length, and each speaker will be allowed five minutes for rebuttal.

This debate represents a radical innovation in the history of University debating. It is the first time a debating team has ever opposed Dartmouth, and also the first debate ever held outside of the annual triangular contest between Yale, Princeton and the University. This triangular will take place on March 19 this year, and the 1923 triangular contest has been announced for the 30th of April. At these triangular debates cups are awarded to the best individual speakers.
