ANNUAL BROOKS HOUSE DRIVE WILL OPEN TUESDAY EVENING

GOAL OF $5000 SET

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The annual drive for funds to carry on the work of the Phillips Brooks House Association will begin with a dinner to the canvassers next Tuesday evening, to be held in the Trophy Room of the Union at 6.30 o'clock. The campaign will be an intensive drive lasting four days, and closing Saturday, October 4. P. Hofer '21 will be in charge of the campaign.

As the war is over and "war drives" are things of the past, there will be added interest in the extensive work of the Phillips Brooks House Association. Among the most important on its list of activities are, social service, mainly through boys' clubs, athletic instruction, teaching English to immigrants, and "Americanization"; Reception to Freshmen and new students; "Open House" held on Thanksgiving and Christmas; the Text Book Loan Library; the annual collection of clothing for the poor; and the new Information Bureau.

$4600 Raised Last Year.

To the increased interest shown in Phillips Brooks House is to be added the fact of a far larger registration of students this year than last. In all probability there will be no campaign among the undergraduates for the Harvard Endowment Fund. Consequently it is to be hoped that the sum of $4600 raised last year, despite war conditions, will be greatly exceeded in this drive. As a goal the committee has set $5000.

There will be three teams, of which all members are Sophomores excepting the captains. They will be under A. W. Douglas '21, A. Houghton '21, L. B. Stoddart '21, respectively.
