A touchdown and a field goal, both by R. Horween Occ were the only scores made by the University eleven in its first scrimmage of the year against the second team yesterday afternoon. The losers put up a stiff opposition and it was not until the last play that Horween was able to cross the goal line.

Many substitutes were put in on both sides and the coaches were able to form a better opinion of their men than they have had the opportunity of doing previously.

Lockwood, Nelson and Higgins Star.

B. Lockwood '22, at tackle for the second team, showed remarkable defensive ability, his block of a punt in the early part of the scrimmage being instrumental in keeping the ball in the University eleven's territory for some time. N. V. Nelson Occ starred for the first team backfield, being particularly valuable in running interference and on the defensive. J. S. Higgins '20 played an excellent game at end for the second team.

The University eleven lined up as follows: r.e., Weatherhead; r.t., Kane; r.g., Woods; c., Philbin; l.g., Holmes; l.t., Hubbard; l.e., Phinney; q.b., Humphrey; r.h.b., Church; l.h.b., Nelson; f.b., R. Horween.
