FOOTBALL SQUAD CUT DOWN

Coach Fisher yesterday reduced the University squad by from fifteen to twenty men, which leaves the present total at forty-three. By this latest cut the first squad has been made much easier for the coaches to handle.

"Tacks" Hardwick on Hand for Duty.

Following the usual black-board talk in the Locker Building, the squad trotted out in a drizzling rain for its first workout on the Stadium gridiron, which has been returfed during the summer. H. R. Hardwick '15 took the backs in hand, and showed them a number of points on taking men out and general interference work, using a dummy and straw in one corner of the field. After that the backs caught punts, which gave them especially useful practice in handling a wet pig-skin. Meanwhile there was charging practice for the linesmen. For the last forty minutes of the afternoon the teams ran through signals. The usual scrimmage was omitted on account of the rain.
