COLLEGE ENROLLS NEARLY 2500

From the figures tabulated up to 9 o'clock last night, it is estimated that the total enrollment in Harvard College this year will run close to, if not exceed, the record-breaking enrollment of 2,582 in 1916. The College this year is far larger than last year or the year before, when the war made big inroads on the attendance.

Only a rough estimate can be given thus far, owing to the number of men who could not register today because they were serving in the state guard or volunteer police by reason of the strike emergency.

The size of the Freshman class cannot yet be determined. The most significant gain is in the number of "unclassified" and "out of course" men, of whom more than 400 registered today. Large numbers of men who served in the war are thus unclassified.

The Graduate School of Business Administration made a very large gain, 297 men signing up on the first day as against 159 last year. The incoming class at the Law School is also exceptionally large.

Engineering Students Number 88.

The Engineering School starts its first full academic year with a body of 88 students. It should be borne in mind that many of the men now registered in Harvard College will transfer to the Engineering School, according to the arrangement now in force between the two.

Estimates for the other departments of the University were not obtainable last night. Exact figures will be available several days from now.
