In the first dual outdoor track meet of the season, the University meets M. I. T. at the Technology Field this afternoon at 2.30 o'clock. Entries from the University number 94 and, after the excellent results attained in the Pennsylvania Relay last week, a victory is predicted.
Captain A. Stevens '19 is expected to win the hammer-throw, while C. A. Clark '19 in the shot-put and C. G. Krogness '21 in the high jump and hurdles are counted upon to place well, each having won second place in his events last week at Philadelphia. The members of the two-mile relay team are entered in individual events and will prove strong contenders, especially D. F. O'Connell '21, captain last year of the Freshman cross country squad.
Following is the schedule of times for events this afternoon:
Track Evens
2.20, first call for 100-yard dash; 2.25, second call for 100-yard dash; 2.30, 100-yard dash, finals (no trial heats); 2.40, 120-yard hurdles, finals (no trial heats); 2.50, One-mile run; 3.00, 440-yard run; 3.10, 220-yard low hurdles, finals (no trial heats); 3.20, Two-mile run; 3.35, 220-yard dash, finals (no trial heats); 3.45, 880-yard run.
Field Events.
2.30, first call for shot-put, pole-vault, and running high jump; 2.40, Shot-put, pole-vault, and running broad jump.
Freshmen at Andover.
The Freshmen open their spring track season this afternoon in a dual meet with Andover at Andover. The squad will leave the North Station at 1.19 o'clock this afternoon.
This meet will be the Freshmen's first spring try-out. The squad is strong in the dashes, and both Captain R. Chute and B. Wharton are fast and reliable.
