COLBY NINE OPPOSES UNIVERSITY PLAYERS

This afternoon at 4 o'clock the University baseball team will play Colby at Soldiers Field in the fourth game of the season. H. P. King '21, regular first baseman on the nine, and captain of last year's Freshman team, will be unable to play due to sickness. His place will be taken by W. B. Frothingham '21, who will be moved in from the outfield. Either P. K. Ellis '19 or R. P. Hallowell '20 will be chosen to replace Frothingham in right field.

F. K. Bullard '20 who was in the box for five innings in the Bates game and succeeded in keeping their hits well scattered will pitch for the University. T. H. Gammack '20 will be behind the bat.

Meehan Out With Broken Ankle.

In practice yesterday afternoon, T. J. Meehan '21 broke his ankle while sliding to second on a hit and run play, and will be out of the game for the rest of the season. Meehan has been playing fast ball at third base on Team B. and has pressed K. W. Perkins '20 hard for a position on the regulars.

Practice has been spent for the past two days in giving the infielders fielding and batting practice, and in trying out plays. Coach Duffy is very much pleased with the improvement shown since the Springfield game, and feels confident that there will not be a repetition of the loose playing of Saturday's contest.

Colby has only played one game this season. Last Saturday they had little trouble in beating Maine.
