1922 RACE WITH NAVY AND TIGERS ASSURED

On the Severn next Saturday the 1922 crew will race the Naval Academy yearlings and the Princeton Freshman eight over the Henley distance of one and seven-eighths miles. Participation in the race by the University Freshmen is made possible by the action of the Class of 1922 in raising over five hundred dollars to finance the trip.

The 1922 eight rowed on the Charles yesterday in the following order: S. Bradlee; 7, Garland; 6, McCagg; 5, Terry; 4, Kane; 3, Whitman; 2, Duncan; B., Appleton. Not until Thursday, however, will the final make-up of the shell be announced.

Last Saturday the Naval oarsmen decisively defeated the Penn. freshmen by three lengths over the same course in 7 minutes and 35 seconds. Their crew averages a little over 180 pounds. The Princeton 1922 crew has not as yet raced.

University Prepared for Severn Race.

Coach Haines is pleased with the improvement shown by the University crew during the last ten days and is optimistic about the triangular regatta with Princeton and Annapolis Saturday.

"We have been giving the crew two or three short, stiff races weekly," said Coach Haines, "and I think we are now prepared for the fast pace that is sure to be set on the Severn. We have a crew which many people consider better than that which beat Princeton and Yale last season. It has been trained especially for the short distance we will race with Princeton and Annapolis."
