LEIGHTON STROKING CREW A

Captain F. B. Whitman '19, who was placed at stroke when the first University crew was selected by Coach Haines last Friday, and D. Leighton '19, who rowed bow, have interchanged seats. This is the first shift made in the seating of either crews A or B. Whether or not the change will be permanent is uncertain, but for the present Leighton will stroke the first eight.

Leighton, who returned to College after Christmas, rowed number seven on his Freshman crew against Yale. He was also a member of the first University boat until the eight disbanded after the declaration of war in the spring of 1917.

50 Reported for Club Eights.

Fifty men responded to the call for club crew candidates yesterday afternoon, and Coach Brown outlined plans for the spring season. Six club eights were organized; three Thayer and three Eliot crews. The present seating of these boats is tentative and many changes may be expected before the spring regatta on May 10. Especially promising oarsmen may be promoted to the class crews.

Before the end of this week all the Freshman oarsmen will be transferred to the Weld Boat Club and Newell will be used exclusively by University and upperclass eights as was the custom before the war. The management hopes to transfer the Freshmen to their new quarters today. During the war, Weld Boat Club was given over to the Navy.
