GOOD BOXING SHOWN IN TOURNEY PRELIMINARIES

Freshmen Took Four of Five Matches at Randolph Gym.--Finals on Friday.

Three hard matches of excellent boxing featured the preliminaries of the boxing tournament, which were held in Randolph Gymnasium yesterday afternoon. The first bout was between F. A. Thompson '21 and D. C. Starr '22 in the 145-pound class. After a bad start, the latter took the offensive in the second round, and succeeded in winning from Thompson.

In the second bout in the 145-pound class, G. M. Palmer '21 won from R. F. Priest '22 in an overtime match. D. Hall '22 took a close match from G. P. Bickford '22 in the 135-pound class.

R. Leven '21 and T. Strong, Jr., '22, 145-pounders fought the most spirited bout of the afternoon. In the second round Strong forced the fighting and succeeded in winning the decision. The fastest match took place between H. Brenner '22 and C. W. Ozias '20 in the 125-pound class, but after a close contest the latter was defeated.

Wrestling preliminaries will be held in Randolph Gymnasium this afternoon.
