Action upon a resolution concerning the late Major Henry Lee Higginson '55 will form the chief item of business at a special meeting of the Harvard Club of Boston in the Club House this evening at 9 o'clock. Major Higginson was actively interested in the affairs of the club, being one of its founders, and also its first president.
President Eliot will offer the resolution in honor of his memory and will tell something of Major Higginson and of the club's purpose in making this resolution at the present time. President Lowell will second it and speak briefly in explanation. Following this, action by the club as a whole in regard to adopting the resolution will be taken.
The Alumni Chorus will furnish choral music both before and after the meeting, and several organ selections will be played. As the seating capacity of Harvard Hall, where the meeting will be held is limited, and it is desired to reserve space for members of the club, the hall will be closed at 8.15 o'clock. The doors will be opened to members at 8.45 o'clock.
Dai Buell to Give Recital Soon.
The Club has arranged an interesting program of speakers for the month of December. On Tuesday of next week Dean L. B. R. Briggs '75 will give a talk on a subject to be announced later. Colonel C. H. Mason of the United States Army has promised to address the club on December 13 at 8.30 o'clock on "The Work of the General Staff and of the Military Intelligence Department of the Army." This speech will be illustrated with maps and slides. Colonel Mason, who is Situation Officer of the Genral Staff Corps, helped organize the Intelligence Department in this country, and was sent to France to work with the General Staff there, making a specialty in that branch of the service called positive intelligence.
On Sunday, December 21, Dai Buell will deliver a piano recital at 4 o'clock. Ladies will be admitted to the Hall for this recital when accompanied by members or upon presentation of special cards of admission, which may be obtained by members at the office of the Club.
