Man Who Managed Clients for High-End Cambridge Brothel Network Pleads Guilty
Jack Manning, who has been associated with rowing at the University for 17 years, has resigned his position as coach to take charge of the Norton Boat Club in Worcester. His resignation is dated to take effect on December 1, and until then he will continue in his present capacity at the Newell Boat House.
"I am very sorry to be leaving Harvard," said Coach Manning, "but the change is a necessary one for me. Of the 17 years that I have spent here I shall have nothing but pleasant memories, and if I have in any way helped the University's crews I am well satisfied."
When Manning took up his work here in 1902 he was assigned first to Newell. Later he was put in charge of the Weld Boat House, and has this year been transferred back to Newell, where he has been coaching the scullers.
In his many years of service he has been associated with eight victorious University crews, and has seen the races at New London every year in one capacity or another. It was during his presence here that the University made its record of winning six consecutive races against Yale.
Mr. Manning's particular field, however, has been coaching the sculling and other individual rowing.
Among his protegees is Newton Darling '17, who won the College sculling championship and the Junior sculling championship at the American Henley.
